In the world there are more than 110 types of ducks. In Belarus it’s permitted to hunt the following ducks: Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos), Gadwall (Anas strepera), Northern Shoveler (Anas clypeata), Garganey (Anas querquedula), Eurasian Teal (Anas crecca), Tufted Duck (Aythya fuligula), Common Pochard (Aythya ferina), Great Crested Grebe (Podiceps cristatus), Eurasian Coot (Fulica atra).

In Belarus one of the waterfowl (ducks) shooting is the hunting with a call hen. A hen decoys drakes by its voice and a hunter, hided in a blind or other special hide, shoots them. If the hunter can imitate voices of different ducks or/and has good calls, it’s useful from time to time, especially having noticed a flock flying, to give a call. Sometimes by means of a call it’s possible to decoy flying drake even if the call hen doesn’t see it. Shooting ducks it’s necessary to be careful and not to hit the call hen.

Jump shooting waterfowl (ducks) is carried out from the beginning of summery hunting. One or some hunters near o in the water of a basin, where there are ducks, put them up and shoot them flying.

In Belarus waterfowl (ducks) shooting from a boat is carried out in rivers o lakes with swampy or plant-filled coasts where it’s impossible to walk. Usually two hunters go in a boat in a river or lake. One of them steer the boat by means of an oar or punt pole and another sitting or staying on the bow shoots duck taking wing.
Waterfowl (ducks) pass shooting. In Belarus after autumn moult finished when adult ducks put their new clothes and young ones start to fly, waterfowl begins its daily passes from sleeping places to eating ones and backwards. During such passes waterfowl (ducks) keep the same routes. It permits to predict they appearance and select an appropriate position for shooting.
