The gray wolf or grey wolf (Canis lupus), often known simply as the wolf, is the largest extant wild member of the Canidae family. Its body average length is 105-160 cm, height is 80-85 cm and up to 1 m. Usually the weight is 30-50 kg. In case of need wolf gathers speed up to 60 km/h. Wolf is able to do passages up to 80 km in a night. Wolf is well known by its voracity. Being hungry it’s able to eat up to 100 kg of meat. In Belarus the wolf eats hoofed mammals: roe deer, wild boar, red deer, moose; it’s not squeamish about rodent and birds eating, also it eats berries and different fruits.

In Belarus the wolf has always been considered a harmful animal and its hunting game is permitted all year long. Several methods of wolf hunting exists: winter driven hunting game with flags, summer driven hunting game around wolf coach, hunting game with a call, stalking hunting game, hunting game from a hide, wolf hunting with traps.

Winter hunting game with flags. It’s the most effective method of hunting game. It consists on the following: a gamekeeper walk round the place where probably wolves are sleeping and by a number of entrance and exit traces determines a presence of the wolf inside. After this some hunters span a cord with flags around this area.

Red and/or yellow flags are hung up at a height of 25-35 cm from the snow surface in well visible places. It’s considered normal an area of 4-5 km of circumference.

Then inside the area, some 30-40 m from the flags line, in the places of most probable appearance of wolf hunters are placed. And beaters get down to work. It’s not recommended to do a lot of noise. To displace wolf it’s enough to cough a little bit. Animals are not afraid much because of that and will go quite. In this case it easier to hit a wolf.

A bait putting favours a success of wolf driven hunting game. It keeps wolves in areas opportune for wolf hunting game.

Next week in the southeastern regions of Byelorussia wolves shooting using helicopter will be started. It’s common practice to decrease predators number which is always excessive in the forests closed to radioactive polluted zone. Foreign hunters are welcome.

Nächste Woche in den südöstlichen Regionen von Weißrussland Wölfe Schießen mit Hubschrauber gestartet. Es ist üblich, Raubtiere Zahl, die immer zu groß ist in den Wäldern geschlossen, um radioaktive Verschmutzung betroffenen Gebietes zu verringern. Ausländische Jäger sind willkommen.

Na semana seguinte, em regiões do sudeste da Bielorrússia, começou a caça de lobos com o uso do helicóptero. É prática comum para diminuir o número de predadores, que é sempre excessiva nas florestas vizinhas na área da poluição radioativa. Caçadores estrangeiros são bem-vindos.

If nothing extraordinary happens from the 13^th of November we’ll hunt according to a new low being discussed during almost 2 years:

Concerning to Wild Boars we’ll have:

1^st of May - 30^th of September. From 18.00 to 09.00. All kind of males and females up to 2 years old. Hide, stalking.

1^st of October – 30^th of December. Animals of all sexes and ages. Hide, stalking, driven hunt.

1^st of January – 30^th of April. All kind of males and females up to 2 years old. In huntingtowers.

Vamos a cazar jabalíes todo el año.

Dentro de un mes entran en vigor nuevas reglas de caza de acuerdo con cuales la caza de jabalíes estará abierta todo el año.

 

Alces berreando

Este Septiembre alces son como locos. Hace un par de dí;as un pastor relató sobre un alce que se trataba de acercarse a las ¡vacas! Los últimos 4 tiros (3 de los cuales eficaces) fueron entre 10 y 20 minutos después de empezar a reclamar alces. Comparando con los últimos 3 años cuando la berrea era muy flojita y duraba hasta más de 4 semanas con intervalos vemos un contraste radical.
